"Holy , holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." -- Revelation 4:8b

I'm always struck by the reference to God as the one "who was, and is, and is to come"... Revelation is a letter of hope and promise to seven churches in Asia, giving them assurance in a time of persecution and threat.  It's comforting to know that whenever we become anxious about our future and its unknowns, we can be certain that God is in that future.  God does not go away.  In fact, he's already there and has prepared the way for us.

Today's readings:  Obadiah 1:1-21; Revelation 4:1-11; Psalm 132:1-18; Proverbs 29:24-25
